Playa Del Carmen is just a 35 minute ferry ride from Cozumel. It was just a sleepy fishing village just a few years ago. Now it is a vibrant town with resort hotels, restaurants, and shopping of all sorts. Even multi-screen movie houses! They even have 2 Starbucks locations! There is a whole lot to see and do over there as well as it being a great jump-off for all the mainland activities. Xel Ha and X-ceret are just minutes away. Cancun is a short bus ride to the north. And hotels by the dozens are available in the area we now refer to as the"Riviera Maya". So if you have a chance, go check it out.
