FINDING YOUR WAY AROUND

It is very easy to figure out where you are on the Cozumel streets.
Avenidas start on the waterfront with R.A. Melgar and go back
    in increments of 5.
Calles are divided into odd and even numbers with the street Benito
Juarez as a center or starting point.

Odd numbers are south of Benito Juarez.
Even numbers are north of Benito Juarez.
Example: If you are on Ave. 25 and Calle 3,
then you should know that you are
5 blocks from the waterfront and
approx. 3 blocks south of the center of town.

Example: Ave 35 and Calle 6 would place you
7 blocks back from the waterfront
and 3 blocks north of the center of town.

Typically, Avenidas have the "right of way".

At this time, the city is in the process of installing street signs on all corners.

STOP AT ALL STOP SIGNS. - PROCEED WITH CAUTION.
EVEN IF YOU HAVE "Right of Way", PROCEED THRU AN
INTERSECTION WITH CAUTION.

There is one main road around the island.
This road is 2 lanes and is not a high speed road.
There are lots of dips and bumps and occasionally a TOPE (a tope is a speed bump).
Everyone uses the same road, including large trucks loaded with construction materials.
