There is a little known hotel located on the windward side of the island of Cozumel. Its name is Ventanas al Mar. It is a small 14 room hotel located right on the beach with incredible views from almost all of the rooms. Right there to the north of the hotel is a long stretch of beach that is truly amazing. Most of the time it is practically deserted except for the hotel guests. There are palapas and beach chairs for the hotel guests to enjoy. It is beautiful. The cool breeze and the Caribbean Ocean lapping at your feet is absolute heaven. Don't miss this one. You may have to rent a car or scooter to get over there, but it will be worth the time and money.

If you are lucky enough to get the Suite #1 (it stays booked most of the time), you will have an experience to remember. The upstairs and downstairs have windows facing the beach as well as having sliding doors facing the ocean. What a view!! But you do not have to stay there to enjoy this slice of paradise.

You can take in the incredible vista from upstairs or just lie back in the hammock downstairs. Either way, it is wonderful! And the sounds of the ocean at night - it is like a lulabye. You will be asleep by 9pm.

If you are on the beach for the sunrise, be sure to have the camera ready. What a site! Unforgetable! Oh, and did I mention that this is one of the beaches where the turtles come ashore each year to lay their eggs. If you are an early bird (around 2am), you can see the turtles come ashore in April-May to lay and then the small ones swimming to the ocean in September-October.
This is a great place to stay for a few days. It is away from everything and so quiet. Oh, and by the way, the hotel operates solely on WIND POWER provided by the 8 wind generators on the hotel's roof.
There is an open-air lobby with, again, yet another view of the beach and ocean, plus they have just added a sun deck for the guests enjoyment. You can have your breakfast out there while watching the waves roll in.
Anyone can go over there and enjoy the beach. It is a public beach. Use of the palapas and chairs, however, is restricted to hotel guests only.
The water is warm, the waves are relaxing and the snow white sand will put you in a trance. Snorkeling is not a good idea here though. The currents are not very forgiving here so be very careful !!
If you have any interest in staying at the hotel, you can contact them at their WEB Site: Ventanas al Mar.
